What is UPS?
The UPS work modes can be divided into the on-line and off-line. The off-line UPS is also known as the reserve UPS, which can be further divided into the UPS with the sine wave output, square wave output, voltage stabilization or no voltage stabilization.
Characteristics of online UPS
The online UPS features the sine wave output, and its most striking characteristic is its realization of the interrupted power supply for the load.
The online UPS can realize anti-interfering power supply for the load. For the online UPS, either having the electric power or having the accumulator for power supply of the load, depends on the inverter. This might fundamentally root out the influence of all voltage fluctuations and electricity interference from the electric power grid on the load. The UPS will constantly provide a voltage-stable and frequency-stable high-quality AC for the load.
Compared with the reserve ups, the online UPS has favorable transient characteristics. When it adds or decreases loads by 100%, its output voltage changes are smaller than 4%, and the time is around 10ms to 40ms.
The online UPS has a high work reliability.
Characteristics of the reserve UPS with the sine wave output
The circuit of the reserve UPS with a sine wave output generally adopts the anti-interfering graded voltage-regulating and voltage-stabilizing technology. When the electric power ranges from 180V to 250V, a voltage-stabilizing and anti-interfering sine wave voltage can be output.
The conversion time is short, around 4ms, and the shortest one can be around 2ms.
The zero wire and fire wire of the output terminal are fixed. This is because either electric power supply or the inverter power supply for the load is finished by the same power source transformer. The reserve UPS with the sine wave output might have the zero wire and the fire wire which wrongly judge the circuit. Once it is found that the zero wire and fire wire of the input terminal are inconsistent with requirements of UPS. The UPS will adopt automatic protection and provides no output. Of special note is that the zero wire input into the reserve UPS at 220V is the ground wire of the UPS control wire.
Characteristics of the reserve UPS with the square wave output
Same to the reserve UPS with the sine wave output, the reserve UPS with the square wave output also adopts the anti-interfering graded voltage-regulating and voltage-stabilizing technology. When the electric power changes between 180V and 250V, its voltage stabilization precision ranges from 5% to 10%.
In the control wire of the reserve UPS with the square wave output, the technology synchronizing with the electric power is not adopted. Its switch time should be longer than that required by the reserve UPS with the sine wave output, for the latter takes about 4ms to 9ms.
Same to the reserve UPS with the sine wave output, the reserve UPS with the square wave output has the fixed zero wire and fire wire at the output terminal. When it is used, the popularity of the AC input terminal should be in line with the ex-factory regulations.
The load like the sunlight should not be connected; Otherwise, it will fail to reach the ex-factory index requirements of the machine or damages the UPS. Besides, it cannot start up and shut down frequently. After the UPS is shut down and then immediately started, it cannot work normally. Under the condition, there is no voltage output and the buzzer gives a long blow. The process is known as the launch failure. Therefore, after the UPS is shut down and should be started again, it takes more than 6s.
