What is the Modular UPS?
System structure of the modular UPS is quite flexible. The design concept of power module makes the system available to be removed or installed randomly during operation without affecting the system operation and output, thus enabling the investment to expand with the modular UPS and promote users to grow dynamically with business development. It not only meets the demand expansion of later equipment, but also reduces the initial purchase cost. Users would often overestimate or underestimate the UPS capacity, modular UPS solves this problem effectively and helps users build and invest in stage when the future development direction is not clear. When user load needs to be increased, users only need to increase power modules according to the planning stages.
Modular UPS is widely used in data processing centers, computer rooms, ISP service providers, telecommunications, finance, securities, transportation, taxation and medical systems.
At present, modular UPS is mainly divided into two kinds:
The first kind of modular UPS consists of frame, power module, bypass module and monitoring module. Among, the power module includes rectifier, inverter and other parts. Each power module is controlled independently but runs in parallel.
The second kind of modular UPS consists of frame and single modules, each single module is equipped with entire UPS and control circuit, including the rectifier, inverter, static bypass switch and subsidiary control circuit, CPU controlling board. Each UPS module has independent management display screen.
Comparing to the current industry development, medium and high power modular UPS generally adopts the first kind, while the small power modular UPS generally adopts the second kind. Common characteristic of the two kinds of UPS is that the power conversion part is controlled independently and available for N+X parallel connection, thus ensuring the reliability of modular UPS.
