UPS Safe Work Methods
Normal operation methods
According to the power supply principle of UPS, when the electric power is normal, the machine will transform the AC of the electric power into DC, and then charge the battery for use during electricity interruption. Here, it should be noted that the UPS moves not just during blackout. When the voltage is too low or too high, or there is instant surge which will influence the equipment’s electricity quality of normal operation, the UPS will move, providing equipment with steady and clean electric power.
When the electric power can normally provide power, the electric power, after undergoing filtering circuit, falls into two circuits for simultaneous movement. One passes by the charging circuit for charging of the battery pack, while the other passes by the rectification circuit as the input of the inverter and then provides power for the load via the inverter’s conversion. It can be seen that online UPS’s output is fully supplied by the inverter. Therefore, no matter how quality of the electric power is, its output is steady and is subject to none influence.
Battery’s work methods
Once the electric power is abnormal and the DC stored in the battery is converted into the AC, the inverter’s input is supplied by the battery pack. The inverter continuously provides the electric power and supplied to the load for continuous use and to realize the purpose of uninterrupted power supply. If the battery provides the power source for the UPS, the battery’s capacity is limited. Therefore, the UPS will not provide power like the electric power without any limitation. Therefore, no matter how large the capacity of the UPS is, the power supply time should be limited under the full-load status. If the discharge time must be lengthened, the long-duration UPS system should be bought.
Bypass operation methods
When the online UPS is overloaded, the bypass gives instructions (manually or automatically), the inverter is too hot or the machine is in fault, the UPS generally transforms the inverted output into the bypass output, that is, the electric power directly provides the power. The phase position of the UPS output must be consistent with that of the electric power frequency on the bypass. Therefore, the phase lock synchronous technology should be adopted to ensure that the UPS output is synchronous with the electric power. The bypass switch two-way controlled silicon parallel working mode can be adopted to cope with the time issue of the bypass switch, ensuring uninterrupted switch, controlling circuit complexity, and finding wide applications in the medium-and large-power UPS. Under the condition of overload, the load should be manually reduced. Otherwise, the bypass short circuit machine will automatically cut off output.
Bypass maintenance methods
When the UPS is under maintenance, normal power supply of the load equipment can be ensured through manual operation of the bypass. After maintenance, start the UPS again, and the UPS can operate normally. The maintenance rate is extremely low, and the MTTR is 150,000 hours, which can maximally improve the power source availability of the UPS.
